Blind Monk and New Champ Rotation

Tuesday, March 22, 2011
Last year, around this time, we were forced to say our goodbyes to a loved and cherished friend, taken from us so tragically and so senselessly before his time. On April 1st 2010, we bid farewell to Urf the Manatee. It was a trying time for all of us all, and many came forward to pour their hearts out and memorialize this noble prince among Sea Cows.
If there’s anything that the death of Urf the Manatee has taught us, it’s that people deal with grief in different ways. For instance, take this gentleman here. Lee Sin was so shaken up that he actually ran off and joined a monastery. Now he’s Lee Sin the Blind Monk. Hey, what do you mean you’ve seen him before?

OFCHokkaido: I swear if this is another april fools joke I might cry =[

Greetings Summoners! This week’s 10 free champions have been rotated.
Here are this week's free champions:
Week 37 (this week):

War on the Greys: My Thoughts

Saturday, March 19, 2011
With all the posts about the summoners code popping up, I felt it was necessary to write a full blog post about the subject at hand. For those of you who have not read earlier posts of mine, I made it obvious that I was against the pact to join the followers of the summoners code. That being said, I am in no way against the code. To clarify, I cannot in good judgement accept a code of conduct that neither I, the community, nor the riot staff can or have followed themselves.

The Summoners Code itself is wonderful. I enjoy the fact that Riot is attempting to take a stand against players with attitude problems. Unfortunately it's a code of conduct that nobody can really abide by. Lets face it, you as a company are potentially trying to fight the internet itself. Because it's a team game, there will always be players on your team that cost you the game. There will always be players who swear, feed, and in other words, throw the game because honestly, they don't care about you. What riot fails to realize is that a good majority of those players probably accepted the Summoners Code without reading a single line.

I'm sure there will be some who try their best to be a positive asset to their teams, and work hard to help their teammates wherever possible. Please, keep it up. The issue I am trying to make is that you don't need to sign a contract in order to do so. Your personality is part of who you are, and people like you make these matches great.

Here is a portion from a Riot-Supported thread on their site:

For you see, there is a problem in this community. Some more politically correct summoners would like to ignore it, or pretty their words or skirt around the issue we all know plagues this community. The problem I speak to you is, of course, the Greys.

Ignorant, disagreeable and brutish, the Greys would try to portray their cause one of freedom of choice, but in reality it is a backward clinging to traditional values that hold no place in modern, civilised society. I, for one, refuse to live in a world dominated by the presence of Greys and subject to the tyranny of the Grey Agenda.

This person is essentially calling out anyone who has not accepted the code in a negative manner. Something that is against the forum rules, but Riot supports it. About a month ago, riot had to fire one of their interns because even he could not follow the code. Look back at the quoted portion above, and replace the word "darkies" or "greys" with any other racial slur you can think. Whether or not this post was a joke or not, it's still negative and should not be supported by Riot. Some are even throwing around "darkies" which is considered as a racial slur for African-descended people in many anti-grey movement threads.

Like I have said in previous posts, I cannot in good judgement accept a code of conduct that I, nor the League of Legends community can or will abide themselves. Most who will publicly follow the code, but in game act no differently. People who will hop on a smurf account and feed, because it doesnt effect themselves. Players who only care about a badge on the forums, and have posts that stand out regardless of the content. Summoners who generally don't care about your code. If I have to be punished by having my posts be overlooked because I understand that accepting the code doesn't mean people will follow it, then fine.

I still say this, I will try my best to follow the code and be a positive teammate for the sake of the match, But I cannot, and will not lie to you, to the community, and to myself by accepting the Summoners Code until I finally see a positive change in the community.

If you agree, I humbly ask you to support my thread (which I lazily copy/pasted from my own blog) at this link: http://www.leagueoflegends.com/board/showthread.php?t=592477

Summoners Code: Accept it or not

Friday, March 18, 2011
Summoners!
If your posts are looking a bit dreary and grey on the forums, then you’ve probably run into the latest renovations to our forum technology. You see, around Season One, we released a little document we called: The Summoner’s Code. This document serves as a blueprint to becoming a positively contributing member of the League of Legends community, and is one of the cornerstones of our campaign to increase overall player friendliness.
Now, reading the code is all well and good. But we wanted to make sure that all summoners were abiding by the code. With this in mind, when you make your next post on the League of Legends boards, you will be prompted to agree to the Summoner’s Code. Doing so will not only net you nifty forum badge displaying your commitment to being a positive force in the community, but will also increase the visibility of your posts. That’s right; those dreary and grey posts that you’ve come across belong to summoners that haven’t yet agreed to uphold the Summoner’s Code.
You will be prompted to accept the summoner’s code next time you author a post or reply to another summoner.
Alternatively, you can manually accept by following these steps:
  • Login to the League of Legends website.
  • Click the ‘My Account’ link in the upper right hand corner by your summoner name.
  • In your account control panel, under ‘Reputation’, click on “Summoner’s Code Agreement”.
  • Review the Code in the popup, then select ‘I Agree’ when you’re ready.
The call to action has come, summoners! Display your commitment to making League of Legends a fun and enjoyable experience for all players. Adopt the Summoner’s Code today!

With this new post by Riot Games, in their news section, there has been a lot of buzz about it across the forums, and even the live streams. The fact that Riot is forcing people to accept a code that they themselves fail to follow themselves seems a little shady. Now, I'm not trying to bag on Riot here because my goal is to one day get a job there, but this new move was executed badly it seems. The purpose of the summoners code is to bring fair play and good sportsmanship. Unfortunately the nature of the game prevents it from happening.

Now, I'm not sure how many of my followers even play League of Legends, or know about the Summoners Code, but its purpose is needed as much as its ignored. Also I hate the fact that making your posts less prominent, because I don't to accept a pact I know I cannot keep seems a little sad. I hope riot brings up the issues a lot of people in forums are, but I know deep down in my heart that It will most likely get ignored like so many issues with the game and the company itself.

League of Legends News: Nocturne Judgement

Wednesday, March 16, 2011
Disclaimer: Before you read on, remember that this is a post direct from the LoL source, www.leagueoflegends.com. My thoughts on Nocturne myself are that he is a great champion. The fact that when he ults, you get legitimate fear makes me smile =p

Candidate: Nocturne
Date: 11 March, 21 CLE
OBSERVATION
The Field Architect has had a long day. Surveying the grounds for signs of degradation is no small task; taking readings every five feet is essential in order to detect even the slightest disturbances in the intricate energy fields. An overlooked spike in the surrounding forces could set off a chain reaction of destruction due to the rampant use of magic on the Fields of Justice. In his own little way, he liked to think that he was saving Runeterra one checkpoint at a time.
His work complete, the architect makes his way back to the summoning platform, where he passes a nexus that should have been dormant. An unbidden spark inside the nexus catches his eye. He turns to investigate only to be struck by a wild burst of energy arcing out of the nexus. The architect collapses to the floor in a heap, sprawling on the unforgiving cobblestone.
His body shrivels as a noxious trail of thick smoke pours out of his open mouth. It is shivering with life and pulsing with horrors.
It is born of nightmares.
REFLECTION
Nocturne had drifted through the minds of humans for endless expanses of time. He beheld the faces they yearned for, absorbed the desires that coursed through their veins, and inhabited the fantasies that set their hearts ablaze. He lingered within the despicably human illusions they conjured in the narrow expanse that was their puny brains.
From all of them, he consumed the magic that rippled through their souls.
Nocturne had only a moment to examine his newfound physical form before a circle of robed summoners appeared around him. He knew who they were before they even revealed themselves. These were the overlords whose faces consumed each mind of every summoner whose dreams he haunted. They were the voices that drenched lesser kinds with promises of great power, and they were the hands that directed the ebb and flow of the entire world. Nocturne knew what these humans wanted, but they would not get him.
His shadowed form ghosted silently toward one of the humans, reaching out with the ethereal tendrils of his consciousness. The cloaked human spasmed as his hands rose to tear at his own head. A bloodcurdling scream ripped through the air, then choked off into silence as the human's mind collapsed into itself.
The other humans barely had a chance to react before Nocturne was on them. He reached out with his limbs as twin blades extended forth from his arms to rend human flesh from bone. The shadow darted low and slashed upwards with his blades, impaling an unfortunate summoner through the entire length of his body.
Nocturne felt a group of humans rush up from behind; for a second, his form pulsed. Darkness smothered the entire field, an oppressive blackness that breathed and sighed. Victims eternally trapped in the phantasm murmured in the summoners' ears, promising eternal torment and pleading for release. Disembodied hands clawed at the living, desperate to rip any semblance of existence away for their own keeping.
The remaining summoners lashed out, flailing against the ghastly fingers that only disappeared long enough to reappear again in greater numbers. Spell incantations decayed on their lips as the magical energies refused to heed their call. The darkness began to suffocate the humans, and they clawed at their eyes in a wild attempt to regain their sight. Devoured by terror, they didn't even sense Nocturne's approach, nor did they feel the blades that cleaved through their soft bodies and condemned their souls to an eternity in the darkness.
One summoner had stood apart from the others. He was decorated with gold chains draped over purple robes. Unaffected by the blindness and horrors, he had chosen to observe impassively as the carnage unfurled. No expression flickered over his face as the pooled blood stained the hem of his robes, nor did his visage change when the dismembered head of his former comrade bumped up against his leg.
The summoner spoke. "Impressive. I see that the eons you've spent leeching off of our minds have managed to serve some purpose."
"I know who you are." Nocturne returned.
"I'm flattered." The summoner sneered. "Then you should also know that it is time you repay us for the horrors you have wrought upon our kind."
"And how do you plan to do that, human?" A monstrous howl echoed from the shadows, something akin to what those humans called a laugh.
"You are now in the world of our control. And you shall be in our service."
"You call this pitiful existence 'payment'?" A flick of Nocturne's hideous blade sent a pile of steaming entrails splattering across the ground. He readied the jagged edge for this last foolish one. "You may have conjured me into your world somehow, but all you will receive is destruction."
With a roar, Nocturne heaved himself at the summoner. His blood-soaked blade came within a razor's width of carving that aggravating smirk off the human's face. Metal circled around his wrists, clanging shut, and sent him flying backwards into a heap of metal chains.
"No. This is your reparation." The summoner's lips parted, wet with anticipation. "Welcome to the League."
The summoners whose bodies lay in a pile around him raised their heads. Their arms shot out and clamped onto Nocturne with an iron grip. They dragged him downward, forcing his physical existence into submission. Every part of him screamed out against the shackles as he involuntarily bowed to the towering head summoner. Nocturne was now in service to the League, and it was his own eternal nightmare.

Don't Worry Guys, I'm Kennen

Tuesday, March 15, 2011
So I was searching youtube and randomly found a video from about may last year when I was playing on my main account "Hokkaido" with some pugs and apparently our Warwick made me famous. Check it out =p

OFC Hokkaido: About Me

Name: Jake

Age: 19

Alias: Hokkaido or Twin Nova

Hobbies: Cooking, Snowboarding, Gaming, Writing,

Gaming History: Started gaming back in the days of Donkey Kong and Super Mario. It was the best 5th birthday gift at a cowboy themed birthday in the park that I ever had. I remember all those sleepless nights, staying up past my bedtime of 8:00pm on an epic quest to find all those banana's. (That was the point of that game right?) The low graphic, rhino riding madness moved on to that crazy magic school bus game on PC. You all know which one I'm talking about too. We had to find Mrs. Frizzle on a random planet. Great times.

Now I go further into the future. Xbox and Halo. The dawn of a new console era. The hours I spent on that game moved on to Halo 2, where I became on of the few legit level 45+. One of the few to actually get sponsored and sent on an all expense paid trip to Houston Texas by the great people of MLG. My skill with a poorly created FPS again moved on to the wonderful game company of activision. If nobody has sensed my sarcasm in my last sentence, trust me its there. Modern Warfare 2 threw me right into the top 5 ladder the first week, and landed me my first clan division leader.

But, this is the internet, and nobody cares about console gaming. With my first jump into online gaming I made poor choices in games, until one fateful night i stumbled across three games that warmed my heart, mind, and that index finger I click all day with. Those games were Conquer Online, Phantasy Star Online, and Counter Strike. The hours I spent sitting around, drinking Mt. Dew, and wasting away hours is almost unforgettable. But its those three games that I continue to play even now, just for the massive nostalgia it gives me.

Finally my story brings me here, to League of Legends. A Moba like no other. To this day, I ignore all mention of DotA or DotA2, and play on despite the community and bugs that lay waste to your gaming experience on an hourly basis. All the rage, broken mouses (or meece o.o) and the aftermath of every loud swear word and skeletons of computer parts that lay dormant in my room that shows all newcomers the treacherous rode that lies ahead on your way to high elo.

Finale: And now I end this short introduction the only way I know how. The one thing that is required in every multi-paragraph post made on a forum.

tldr; hi

League of Legends v1.0.0.113
Nocturne, the Eternal Nightmare
  • Duskbringer: Nocturne throws a shadow blade which deals damage, leaves a Dusk Trail, and causes champions to leave a Dusk Trail. While on the trail, Nocturne ignores unit collision and has increased Movement Speed and Attack Damage.
  • Shroud of Darkness: Nocturne empowers his blades, passively gaining attack speed. Activating Shroud of Darkness allows Nocturne to fade into the shadows, creating a magical barrier which blocks a single enemy spell and doubles his passive attack speed if successful.
  • Unspeakable Horror: Nocturne plants a nightmare into his target's mind, dealing damage each second and fearing the target if they do not get out of range by the end of the duration.
  • Paranoia (Ultimate): Nocturne reduces the sight radius of all enemy champions and removes their ally vision in the process. He can then launch himself at a nearby enemy champion.
  • Umbra Blades (Passive): Every 10 seconds, Nocturne's next attack strikes surrounding enemies for physical damage and heals himself for each target hit. Nocturne's physical attacks reduce this cooldown by 1 second.
